Godspell by The Live Oak Theatre

Admission & Info: The Live Oak Theatre version of the 70s smash hit, Stephen Schwartz’ hit musical Godspell will be presented over three weekends at the Morsani Center for the Arts. Godspell opened off-Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has since been produced by multiple touring companies and in many revivals. The 2011 revival played on Broadway from October 13, 2011 through June 24, 2012. The musical is structured as a series of parables, primarily based on the Gospel of Matthew. However, four of the featured parables are only recorded in the Gospel of Luke, and the narrative of the woman taken in adultery is only in the Gospel of John. The parables are interspersed with music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ appearing briefly near the end of the show.

Relay for Life of Nature Coast Event

This fundraiser is a community-based event, which means no two Relays are the same, but they all support the American Cancer Society’s mission. Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. Admission & Info: Stage West Playhouse presents the Pulitzer Prize winning classic, The Gin Game, a dramatic comedy by D. L. Coburn.

Originated on Broadway by Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn in 1977, performed for PBS by Mary Tyler Moore and Dick van Dyke in 2003, and recently revived on Broadway by James Earl Jones and Cecily Tyson in 2015, THE GIN GAME tells the story of two lonely souls abandoned by life who meet, bond, and banter over a card game. They discover they both dislike the home and enjoy gin rummy, so they begin to play and to reveal intimate details of their lives. Fonsia wins every time, and their secrets become weapons used against one another. Weller longs for a victory to counter a lifetime of defeats, but it doesn’t happen.

Director Mark Burdette (Steel Magnolias) will be seeking two actors. Fonsia Dorsey: 65-75, Prim and proper, Fonsia appears to be a fragile victim who has been abandoned to the run-down. Weller Martin: 70-80, A man who sees life in terms of winning and losing. He is terribly competitive, foul-mouthed, and deeply bitter. Couples are encouraged to audition. For those interested, understudies will also be chosen for this show.

ThrowDown Hill: A Weekly Smash Event!

Tipsy Trail Ride

Admission & Info: This is a 14 to 20-mile Suncoast Trail ride that will be dependent on available sunlight. This ride is a social event. The ride will be at a 12-16 mph pace. Based upon participants, the group may split into two groups: one at 12-14 mph and one at 14-16 mph. This is a No Drop ride. The ride will begin and end at the Strong Tower Winery. Sunday Bagel Shop Ride

Admission & Info: Join us on a fun Sunday ride on a flat part of the Suncoast Trail. The ride will head south along the Suncoast Trail to Crews Lake (24 miles) or to SR 52 (30 miles) depending on the route you choose. There will be at least two groups of riders the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month and will include paces of between 12-15 mph, and between 15-17 mph. A third group of over 17 mph is an option depending on participants. This is a No Drop ride. After the ride we can enjoy a post ride snack at the Bagel shop! Everyone is welcome on a Nature Coast Bicycle Club ride. Please remember that you are RIDING AT YOUR OWN RISK. Admission & Info: Join us each Sunday as we focus on the fusion of the spiritual principles and holistic practice of Yoga as we combine the 12 Step Principles of AA and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These principles are powerful practices for living a full, mindful and joyful life. They are valuable for all of us with any form of addiction. Recovery is possible and a full and complete happy life is possible. Each week we will spend 90 minutes in a safe and comfortable environment as we move our energy in an active and mindful way followed by a full and complete relaxed meditation. Our practice is a trauma sensitive practice, welcoming those who are in recovery from addiction and/or trauma and their families. Come as you are (shorts, yoga attire or sweatpants suggested). No yoga experience required. Bring a yoga mat if you have one.
